CCPS FY27 Operating Budget Update

Thank you to the Carroll County Board of Education for approving an operating budget request that will meet the needs of the school system.

Yesterday the BOE approved the operating budget request totaling $18M. The $18M total includes $14M in ongoing revenue + $4M in one-time funds. Now, their request will go to the County Commissioners and the county budget process will ramp up in March before budget adoption in May.

The BOE has taken the required first step to preserve programs such as Outdoor School, but without an commitment from the county to fund that ask, those types of programs are at risk to be cut. To be absolutely clear, if the Commissioners do not agree to the $5M in additional recurring funding, $1.4M for Outdoor School, or the $4m additional one-time ask, then the BOE would need to identify cuts to balance the budget.

Please stay engaged and involved! Our schools still need your voice speaking up to make sure this funding gets adopted into the county budget.
